Large-scale Russian Attacks Cut Electricity Across Ukraine's Capital

Power facilities targeted in Ukraine
Ukraine's power facilities have come under escalating strikes in recent weeks

Overnight, Russian missile and drone strikes have resulted in power cuts in extensive areas of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

Nine people were injured while residents in eastern neighborhoods were plunged into darkness and encountered problems to water supplies, as stated by local authorities.

Meanwhile, a seven-year-old child was fatally injured in a distinct aerial attack in the southeastern region in the country's south-east, as reported by area administrators.

Moscow has intensified strikes on energy facilities over the last fortnight, while officials has demanded "substantial measures" from allies to exert influence on Russia.

"The necessity is not symbolic gestures but strong steps - from the United States, European nations and the Group of Seven - in supplying defensive weapons and implementing penalties," mentioned in a public message.

Authorities reported that numerous aerial vehicles and more than 30 projectiles targeted the country's power systems, labeling such assaults as "cynical and calculated" and against "essential services" as winter approaches.

Government representatives said Moscow was "inflicting a massive strike" and maintenance teams were laboring to repair systems.

A wave of strikes struck power facilities and residential structures in Kyiv.

Multiple people wounded in the attacks on the city have been hospitalized, as confirmed by local officials.
